About Lyle L. Leffler

Doctor Lyle Leffler

Dr. Lyle Leffler Jr. was born in 1950. He is the son of the late Lyle Leffler Sr., well known herbalist, who gained considerable fame with his host of different herbal formulas. During Lyle's youth he spent a great deal of time helping his father gather and process the herbs that were used in these formulas. Inspired by his father's love of nature and mother nature's plants, Lyle would seize every opportunity to listen attentively as his father discussed diet, nutrition and the use of nature's medicine. Lyle was convinced that following in his father's footsteps would be his lifelong ambition.

In 1968 Dr. Leffler graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. His studies continued in Osteopathic Manipulation, Naturopathy and Herbology at the Anglo-American Institute of Drugless Therapy, where he graduated in 1970 with a Doctorate of Naturopathy. Dr Leffler commenced his practice in Woodstock, Ontario, where he addressed the health issues of his patients thru the use of osteopathic manipulation, herbs and diet. In 1975, Dr. Leffler started the Natural Health Care Clinic. It was at this time he was introduced to a book entitled The Nature Doctor, written by Dr. Alfred Vogel. Intrigued by its content Lyle was inspired to explore the philosophy and teachings of this great pioneer, using phytotherapy (the use of fresh plant tinctures) and homeopathy. With this new methodology in mind, Dr. Leffler spent the next several years experimenting with fresh plant tinctures. Observation of clinical results concluded that fresh herbal tinctures produced superior results over the dry herb.

With a growing reputation and patients consulting him from all over Ontario, the need for larger facilities became apparent. In 1985 the Natural Health Care Clinic moved to its current location.

During the 1980's, Dr. Leffler continued his studies in classical homeopathy with Dr. Robin Murphy, Professor of Homeopathy at the National College of Naturopathy. Upon returning to his own practice he prescribed a remedy to a patient who had been incapacitated with rheumatoid arthritis for several years. Previous treatment had been disheartening, but within a few weeks this patient was able to dance with her husband to a slow waltz. This incredible healing made his quest for more knowledge in the area of classical homeopathy grow, and during the next several years he studied with many of the great homeopathic masters such as George Vithoulkas, Dr. Vassilis Ghegas and Dr. Eizayaga. In 1993, Dr. Leffler graduated from the first school of homeopathy in Canada, Homeopathia Universalis.

Dr. Leffler's passion for homeopathy led him all over the world, where he continued his studies with an unquenchable thirst for more knowledge. In 2001, he studied clinical medicine and homeopathy with Dr. Ramakrishnan, and was one of the first Canadians to complete a clinical training program held at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, India. Each day while working in the out-patient department, hundreds of sick people were successfully treated with homeopathy, rather than using prescriptions for medical drugs.

Dr. Leffler continues to be actively involved in the study of plants, the botanical kingdom and the sensation or feeling which is common to each of the plant families. He is currently registered as a Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine with the Ontario Homeopathic Association, Homeopathic Medical Council of Canada and the National United Professional Association of Trained Homeopaths. As well as a full time practice, Dr. Leffler's vast knowledge of homeopathy and fresh herbal tinctures has enabled him to formulate a variety of specialized preparations, which have been used by thousands of people, with success stories too numerous to recount. These supplements and specialized tinctures can be found in Dr. Leffler's own brand line, LYLE's.

The Legacy of Lyle Leffler, Senior

Lyle Leffler Senior

The late Lyle Leffler, the father of Dr. Lyle Leffler Jr., was born and raised in Sault Sainte Marie. During his youth he experienced extremely poor health, suffering from repeated stomach problems. The nature of his illness is not known, however he required several surgeries which proved unsuccessful in resolving his health issue. After many years of suffering, continually being told by doctors his stomach problem was incurable, he was taken to a native herbalist who resolved his health issues with a combination of herbs.

From a very young age his passion was to study medicine, however with elderly parents and a lack of money he was required to stay at home to maintain the family farm. In his 40s after the passing of his parents, he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a healer. Reflecting on his childhood and his health issues being resolved through nature's herbs, he decided to pursue natural healing. Over the next several years he studied many aspects of natural healing including herbs, mentoring with the herbalist that possibly saved his life.

At the age of fifty, filled with enthusiasm for the healing abilities of nature's remedies, he decided to disseminate his knowledge by forming a traveling medicine show. He traveled throughout Ontario providing his audience with music, the excitement of someone wrestling a black bear and finally a presentation on the healing abilities of nature's plants. With growing popularity and demand for his herbal formulations he purchased a small farm in Rockton, Ontario, Canada. He formed a company called Valley City Herb Distributors Ltd with operations centered on growing, processing and manufacturing over seventy herbal products.

At this time his products were available in most cities in Ontario and through a mail order business coast to coast. He established a home for special care where people could spend up to two weeks. They were served meals prepared from organic food grown on his farm; received instruction in meditation, nature's herbs, and on how being in harmony with nature can maintain one's health and prevent disease. His philosophy was that nature had provided all that was necessary to fight disease if only we would take it in time.

Lyle Leffler Sr. was a very humble, unassuming individual with very few material aspirations. He died at the age of 86 after succumbing to abdominal injuries which he was unable to recover from. His legacy is being continued in Woodstock, Ontario by his son Dr. Lyle Leffler, H.D and granddaughter Dr. Tammy Leffler, H.D. both are licensed Homeopathic Doctors and operate the Natural Health Care Clinic in Woodstock, Ontario.
